Local Outreach

Our Missions Team meets the second Sunday of the month at 12:15 pm.  If you are interested in finding out about serving in any of these local areas, please join us or contact the church office at 386.767.8544 and we will have our Missions Team Leader contact you!

Derbyshire Place

Derbyshire Place is Christian Community Center where Covenant serves in conjugation with other area United Methodist Churches.  They have a resale shop open every Friday from 9:00am-3:00pm and on the Second Saturday of each month, there is a special event when the neighborhood children are welcomed for lunch and games.  Covenant serves lunch during these events.  They are starting to offer Bible studies for adults and also weekly support groups for the community.  There has even been a community veggie garden planted and is growing abundantly.

If you’d like to know more or find out how you can serve in this local outreach mission, stop by any Friday and they will show you around at 962 Derbyshire Road, Holly Hill.  Remember also, Covenant serves lunch the second Saturday of the month, we welcome ALL VOLUNTEERS!

Family Renew Community

Family Renew Community, has a mission to alleviate homelessness among families with children in Volusia County.  Families may stay for six months or more, and during that time the program is to assist them to become self-supporting. Families are expected to work and save toward their goals and to remain drug-free and alcohol-free.  The purpose is to achieve both permanent housing and self-sufficiency.  Covenant supports Family Renew financially; we also visit the families at different holidays through-out the year to bring gifts for the children.

Florida UM Children's Home

The Florida United Methodist Children's Home was established in 1908 to provide a home for orphans and other children that had nowhere else to live.  Today it serves as a diverse ministry with two campuses that include residential, therapeutic group, foster and emergency shelter care.  The Home also provides independent living assistance and a community child care center.  Strong church support enables the program of the Home to maintain its ministry as a significant Christian outreach committed to the well-being of children, youth and their families.

Halifax Urban Ministries

The purpose of Halifax Urban Ministries (HUM) is to respond to the needs of the hungry, homeless, and low income people in Volusia and Flagler counties.  HUM feeds men, women and children a hot meal every day at the North Street Kitchen and also provides emergency services with the prime objective of keeping people from becoming homeless.

Covenant UMC volunteers the second Monday of each month and we serve over 300 people at lunch.  If you feel called, we invite you to join us in this half day mission.  Meet here in the church parking lot to ride over together in the church van that will leave at 9am and returns around 2pm.

Prison Ministries

There is a big need for Bibles in local prisons.  Bibles have a stabilizing influence on a tough prison population. Penitentiary security requirements require soft cover Bibles; however they can be any version.  Look for the donation box in our Church Narthex, to help support this outreach effort of scripture distribution and help reach inmates for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Resources for Women

Resources For Women provide free and confidential support for women who are pregnant.  Our Baby Bottle fundraiser at Covenant that begins on Mothers Day and continues through Fathers Day, helps support this agency. For quarterly newsletter, click here.
